Role

Writer, editor, multimedia journalist

Project type

Multimedia journalism

I am a versatile multimedia reporter who specializes in sports journalism for Capital Current - a publication that provides local news and current affairs coverage for all of Ottawa's communities.

I mainly write commentaries and in-depth preview and analysis pieces covering professional sports teams. For example, I've written a piece analyzing how the Canadian Men's National Soccer Team secured a spot at the Qatar World Cup; a piece recapping Canada's loss to Croatia in which Alphonso Davies made history; a piece recapping Atletico Ottawa's successful 2022 season, analyzing how they improved after a tough 2021 season and previewing their first-ever home playoff game; and a commentary on the Toronto Blue Jays' improvement from last season among others.

I also have experience writing about business and the economy, for example, stories about how high inflation still affects consumers and businesses despite interest rate increases, and how Covid-19 sparked spending on cannabis.

I've also written various national news stories such as Carleton University joining 40+ other post-secondary institutions in the signing of the Scarborough Charter and how the NHL's handling of the Kyle Beach scandal could set a precedent in minor leagues among others.

I do extensive background research, interview, write, edit and create multimedia elements for all stories.
